MasterCard Worldwide and USA Technologies announced that six of America's most prominent vending companies are installing e-Port® cashless payment technology on their vending machines to accept MasterCard PayPass cards and devices. The six vending machine companies participating in the MasterCard and USA Technologies rollout are North County Vending, Five Star Food Service, A & B Vending, First Class Vending, Mid-Atlantic Vending, and PGI Services. These machines are part of the deployment of 5,000 PayPass- and cashless- enabled vending machines announced late last year. "As a result of our work with USA Technologies, MasterCard PayPass is now available on vending machines in major cities across the US, giving consumers a faster, more convenient way to make purchases from beverage and snack machines," said T.J.
Book may be a good read for endurance athletes
If you are into endurance sports, this may be a must-read book for you. If you're more of a casual exerciser, then you'll probably want to skip "Core Performance Endurance." Author Mark Verstegen, a self-described fitness authority who trains elite athletes, focuses on the muscles of the shoulders, midsection and hips in a fitness plan tailored for the "unique demands placed on endurance athletes." He has devised a fitness and nutrition program that "revolutionizes the way you train for endurance sports." He has had success with his previous related books, "Core Performance" and "Core Performance Essentials." Verstegen recommends that endurance athletes change their mind-set, assess their current training and physical condition and get rid of "no pain, no gain" thinking.
Channeling the Derby
Trying to pick the winner of this Kentucky Derby is not like handicapping. It's like channeling. You sit quietly and hope some jewel from the past will put you in good spirits. Step right up and get your fresh Kentucky Derby tips. Beware of Derby parties. Two sporting events are made for parties -- the Super Bowl and the Kentucky Derby. Derby parties include showing off and giving advice. A couple of years ago at a Kentucky Derby fundraiser, I was introduced as the author of the novel on which the horse race film "Let It Ride" was based. And as such, I was selected to come up with a bet for the group. It was a big and rich group. I told them that they had it all wrong. The reason I wrote the novel was because it was easier than picking winners.

Despite Rise in Other Sports, Locals Bats About Baseball
Baseball diamonds from Stevenson Ranch to Canyon Country and everywhere in between were virtually empty Thursday afternoon - less than a week after the start of baseball season, a time when excitement for the sport is expected to be high. Children were seen dribbling basketballs, pushing their scooters and riding skateboards, but there was hardly a bat, glove or ball in sight. "With baseball, you have to have at least two people. I can throw the basketball by myself," Ryan Reynolds, 8, said, as he kicked a soccer ball along the grass. Nationwide, baseball has been declining as the No. 1 sport. Studies show that baseball has been losing popularity: Stadiums are seeing decreasing ticket sales, and televised games have seen slumping ratings.
MURPHY STAR ACE BET
The Kerrygold Champion Chase over two miles provides the centrepiece on the first day of the Punchestown Festival, an eight-race card that involves two other Grade 1 prizes as well as the valuable Goffs Land Rover Bumper. It looks a trappy punting card, but at least one of the problems presented by the days's most valuable race will be resolved before racing actually gets under way, namely the participation of Nickname, the outstanding Irish two-miler of the current season whose reputation has been established on the basis of some exceptional heavy-ground form Whatever decision is reached by trainer Martin Brassil, it is inevitable that Nickname is facing a challenge in terms of ground conditions unlike any that he has encountered during his marvellous winning spell.
