| Clubs under fire for dearth of minority coaches
Anti-racism campaigners are pushing the government to address the lack of access for ethnic-minority coaches to managerial positions in football. Kick It Out and the Martin Shaw King Trust will today host a seminar for grassroots coaches to discuss how to secure posts. But such initiatives are clearly not making headway in the professional game. In the 92 league clubs there are only two managers with a non-white background - Keith Curle at Torquay United and Paul Ince at Macclesfield Town. Two months ago a Commission for Racial Equality report applauded football's efforts in tackling racism in other areas but there is a growing demand for intervention to provide more opportunities for black coaches. .
Roto Arcade: Stream Ethics
In general, when we make pitching suggestions for tomorrow's games, readers don't respond negatively. Unless we recommend a pitcher who's facing one of the New York teams. Then a bunch of people who spell exclusively with numbers and capital letters like to offer feedback. But in most cases, readers don't have a problem with pitching suggestions. However, if we use the word "streaming," a certain type of owner snaps. The term refers to the practice of adding and dropping pitchers every day in order to get the greatest possible number of starts. You can do it at other positions, too, and you can certainly do it in other fantasy sports. But when we talk streaming in baseball leagues, we're usually talking about pitchers. In order to employ the strategy successfully it helps to draft a dominant offense – savvy streamers often spend their early draft picks exclusively on hitters – and a collection of closers.

Rangers place Gagne on DL
ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced Monday that pitcher Eric Gagne has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right hip strain. Gagne entered the game in the ninth inning of Sunday's series finale with Oakland. He walked off the mound after throwing 11 pitches to two batters. Antinori Otsuka got the final two outs to preserve the Rangers' 4-3 victory. After appearing in just three spring training games, Gagne began the season on the DL. He has made four appearances with the Rangers since his return to the club April 13, notching one save in 3 1/3 scoreless innings. The injury is just the latest in a series of setbacks for Gagne, who had played in only 16 games over the last two years because of back and elbow injuries. The Rangers have recalled right-hander Frank Francisco from Triple-A Oklahoma to fill Gagne's spot on the roster.
Brian Giles Would Win Gold at the Nude Olympics
If they had such a thing, which I'm not entirely sure that they do, but if they did, Brian Giles would definitely medal. I've already told you about Brian Giles' juvenile sense of humor, and his predilection for being naked, and now I'll tell you that the legend continues to grow. From an interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune:Q. What's your craziest stunt? A. "I took batting practice naked in the cages under Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh. Well, I wore cleats – a shin guard and cleats. Once at Bradenton (Fla.) during spring training, I ran across the field with a scarf and a pair of Nikes. Nude humor is my forte." That's not necessarily the first time I've heard of a player taking naked BP, but I'd certainly like it to be the last. OK fine, I'll admit it, it's still funny.
Opinion: Emotions run gamut in training
If you can get Milo Bryant to shut up about physical fitness for more than five minutes, you might actually get a little coherent sports commentary out of him. Bryant has wanted to do two things, opine about the sports world and own a chain of personal training centers. Milo has been a sports columnist since 2000, and his nationwide chain of fitness centers ? Lets just say theyre confined to his garage for now. Bryant has been a full-time sports reporter for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, the Syracuse Herald Journal, the Fresno Bee and now the Colorado Springs Gazette. Following in the footsteps of fellow columnist, David Ramsey, Bryant will add author to his resume in 2007. Bryant wants to sell at least 13 fitness books, beating Ramseys sale total of "Nats. A team. A City. An Era. The Story of Professional Basketball in Syracuse, 1946-1963" by one.
